"And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them"
It is the responsibility of members and guests of the congregation to ensure that our shul is a mini Temple in all its pursuits and dealings. Members should be guided by the pursuit of holiness and the highest moral standards in promoting the mission of the congregation.
With these goals in mind, members and guests are asked to adhere to the following principles:
Expectations and Accountability
• Preserve the decorum and dignity of the prayers
• Uphold Jewish values such as fairness, ethics and respect, mutual respect, sensitivity and openness
• Act with personal honesty and integrity
• Preserve the dignity of the congregation, its members and those who serve it
• Support the daily work of the congregation and its leadership
• Serve as role models
• Maintain a safe and welcoming environment, and promote shalom rather than divisiveness.
Communication and Confidentiality:
• Observe laws of derogatory speech
• Respect the privacy of others
• Communicate openly and truthfully
• Ensure that disagreements relate only to principles and priorities, not personalities
Respect for Others
• Ensure that everyone involved in the congregation is treated with respect
• Enable those who are part of the congregation to reach their highest potential
• Remember that the goal is unity, not uniformity
The privileges and benefits bestowed upon members are a blessing, creating the opportunity for serving Hashem, acts of kindness and learning Torah, and participation in a vibrant and mutually supportive Jewish community.
